L'Association pour la santé environnementale du Québec / Environmental Health Association of Québec

Mission

The mission of the Environmental Health Association of Québec (EHAQ) is to achieve equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all spaces for people experiencing the medical condition and disability of multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), by promoting education and working to eliminate poverty, isolation, and discrimination experienced by this population group.

To accomplish this mission, EHAQ will:

  • Work with and provide information to governments, health care professionals, academics, industry, consumer and social groups about the specific needs of people experiencing MCS, in order to obtain services and accommodation for the inclusion and accessibility of the disability of MCS,
  • Promote an understanding among physicians, scientists, and the general public about MCS,
  • Conduct research in all aspects of environmental health and MCS including underlying mechanisms; diagnostic and treatment methods for MCS; and impacts of toxics use reduction,
  • Collaborate in Research and Knowledge Translation addressing links between environmental exposures and health,
  • Work to establish public policies that will curb toxic exposures and safeguard health;
  • Collaborate with like-minded groups,
  • Work towards healthy housing to accommodate this disability,
  • Provide and operate low–rental residential accommodation and incidental facilities exclusively for persons of all ages, of low and modest or low and moderate income and who are disabled from MCS and persons with similar overlapping conditions and special housing needs,
  • Research to aid and improve the ecological building model so that it can be reproduced and made an example of how to build and live in order to minimise the impact on health, and ecological imprint.
