Projects
ASEQ-EHAQ has been working on many different projects since its creation in 2004.
Your Voice Matters was created in order to allow people experiencing environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity the opportunity to share their story in their own words. Oftentimes, this disability is ignored or erased from the public eye, despite the fact that over 1 million people are suffering from it – and often without any help. In order to ensure awareness and education about this disability ASEQ-EHAQ shares these stories so people can make their voices heard and know that they are not alone.
ASEQ-EHAQ offers a wide variety of different workshops and webinars at no cost. These programs can be tailored for workplace presentations to professionals including medical communities, employers, and landlords, community organizations, as well as people with environmental sensitivities and their family and friends. These workshops can address a variety of topics including everyday strategies for ecological living, accommodations, fragrance free policies, and managing environmental sensitivities.
IMPACTS OF COVID-19 HEALTH MEASURES ON PEOPLE WITH MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY
This research project was developed as a collaboration between ASEQ-EHAQ, doctors and researchers, and the clinicians at the Environmental Health Clinic at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. It aims to improve access to healthcare and essential services for people experiencing MCS and understand the impacts of COVID-19 on the lives of people experiencing MCS. We have developed a fact sheet of safest practices to limit the spread of the virus and a support letter from ASEQ-EHAQ for individuals seeking accommodations. We will be sharing the findings from this study and hosting many online activities in order to continue educating the community and advocating for accommodation during and beyond the pandemic.
ECOASIS is an exciting, affordable and healthy housing project for people who suffer from environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity. The housing project will focus on indoor air quality and will respect health and the environment. Healthy living spaces can be difficult to find for people with environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity. This housing project will not only provide this much needed necessity but will also provide a community and spaces to connect with others. You can register to be on the list for the housing project online.
During the month of May, groups around the world have activities and projects to create awareness and to educate on environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity. Since ASEQ-EHAQ was started in 2004, several events have been organized for this month and also for May 12, which is the day for environmental sensitivities/multiple chemical sensitivity. These events include conferences in person and online, advocacy, giving out educational materials, reaching out to other groups to support this cause, educating decision-makers, etc.
ASEQ-EHAQ hosts many online education and support seminars. Individuals can register to be a part of these seminars at any time. Several of these webinars are also saved on our website for individuals to watch at any time.
Our Hand in Hand Across Québec project will address issues such as isolation experienced by people who have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), especially our seniors. It will be facilitating online workshops created, taught, and attended by our senior and other members. This will give opportunities for people to attend creative and other workshops, and learn more about MCS. These workshops will also create the necessary spaces for people with MCS, who are also seniors, to feel part of a community, talk about MCS and share their interests with others. For those who do not feel prepared to run workshops online, we will support you through the process, and we will be offering access to webinars on how to host workshops on platforms like zoom.
