🌿 Join the ECRoB Project – Building Accessible, Healthier Environments for All

The Empowering Community and Removal of Barriers (ECRoB) project is a national initiative led by the Environmental Health Association of Québec (ASEQ-EHAQ).

ECRoB works to make indoor air quality (IAQ) accessible by promoting fragrance-free, lowest-emission environments across Canada – where everyone, including people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and other disabilities, can breathe safely and participate fully in public life.

Through research, training, and outreach, the ECRoB project connects communities, professionals, and policymakers to create meaningful change in the places where we live, learn, work, and heal.

This initiative combines environmental health, disability rights, and social equity – building a future where clean indoor air is recognized as a fundamental accessibility right and a cornerstone of human health.

🌎 Why ECRoB Matters

Every day, millions of Canadians are exposed to harmful chemicals from scented and high-emission products in workplaces, schools, and public buildings. For people with MCS and related conditions, this exposure can be life-altering – leading to isolation, job loss, and barriers to essential services.

ECRoB tackles these issues head-on by:

  • Conducting national research on indoor air quality and accessibility
  • Training communities and professionals on safe product use and policy implementation
  • Promoting fragrance-free and least-toxic practices that improve health for all
  • Advancing rights-based solutions aligned with the Accessible Canada Act and UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)

Together, we can create a society that values clean air as a human right – protecting both people and the planet.
