{"id":8930,"date":"2023-09-11T14:58:31","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T18:58:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aseq-ehaq.ca\/?page_id=8930"},"modified":"2023-09-11T15:11:33","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T19:11:33","slug":"medical-aspects-of-mcs-its-time-to-catch-up-to-the-science","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aseq-ehaq.ca\/en\/medical-aspects-of-mcs-its-time-to-catch-up-to-the-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical aspects of MCS: It\u2019s time to catch up to the science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Speakers<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John Molot MD FCFM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Environmental Health and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS): Biological and Clinical Aspects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Dr. John Molot is an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Ottawa. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">He has taught medical students and residents in family medicine from multiple<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Canadian medical schools. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">He has provided several Mainpro-C workshops on MCS to the Canadian Colleges of Family Physicians. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">In 2016, he was appointed as a clinician expert to the<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Task Force on Environmental Health by the Minister of Health and Long-Term<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Care (Ontario). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">He has recently published peer-reviewed articles on<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">MCS titled <i>Neurological susceptibility to environmental exposures: pathophysiological<\/i><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\"><i>mechanisms in neurodegeneration and multiple chemical sensitivity<\/i> and <i>Multiple<\/i><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\"><i>Chemical Sensitivity: it\u2019s time to catch up to the science<\/i>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">In this workshop, Dr. Molot will dissect the intricate links between our environment and<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">human health, with a focus on the complex pathophysiological mechanisms underlying<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">MCS. He&#8217;ll emphasize the significance of taking an<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">environmental exposure history, explaining its principles and pinpointing its crucial role in<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">clinical application.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Robert Lattanzio LLB BCL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supporting Patients\u2019 Rights to Disability-Related Accommodations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Robert Lattanzio, who has served as the Executive Director of ARCH Disability Law<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Centre since 2015, embarked on his journey with ARCH back in 2003. Over the years,<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">he has made significant contributions to the field, arguing influential test cases up to the<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">Supreme Court of Canada. As a recognized authority, Robert is a frequent guest<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">lecturer on pivotal topics such as human rights law, education law, and disability rights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">His profound commitment to disability rights and social justice is evident in his extensive<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">work and volunteer involvement within various equity-seeking communities. A recipient<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">of the Law Foundation of Ontario\u2019s Guthrie Award in 2022, Robert&#8217;s contributions to<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">access to justice are unparalleled. He earned his LL.B and B.C.L. degrees with<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-CA\">distinction from McGill University in 2003.
