{"id":12633,"date":"2024-05-15T10:55:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-15T14:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aseq-ehaq.ca\/?page_id=12633"},"modified":"2024-06-17T16:11:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T20:11:34","slug":"mcs-checklist-for-managing-your-health","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aseq-ehaq.ca\/en\/mcs-checklist-for-managing-your-health\/","title":{"rendered":"MCS Checklist for Managing Your Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong> Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/aseq-ehaq.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/5-MCS-Checklist-for-Managing-Your-Health.docx.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Checklist for Managing Your Health <i class=\"fas fa-file-pdf\"><\/i><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Empowering Community and Removal of Barriers (ECRoB) Project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Plan Your Day:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schedule your basic needs, such as eating, drinking water, relaxing, exercising, and taking supplements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make a to-do list and assign specific times for each task.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan activities with potential triggers towards the end of your chores so that when you return home, you can shower, and put on clean clothes to reduce exposure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Take Care of Yourself:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accept that your day may not go as planned, and be patient with yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on your basic needs: eat organic as much as possible, paying attention to eat foods you tolerate, rest whenever you need to, and try to have a regular sleep schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Before Going Out:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the restroom before leaving, as public toilets often have fragrances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring water, food, and anything else that helps reduce your symptoms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep emergency contact numbers easily accessible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dealing with Delivery or Repair Personnel:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Briefly explain your condition and request a convenient time for their visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask them not to smoke or wear fragrances, or any scented products since you are allergic to them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If needed, open windows for ventilation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request that products to be installed are off-gassed before installation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What to Do After Exposure:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leave the location immediately if you experience a reaction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove your clothes, wash them, shower, and put on clean clothes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow instructions from your environmental medicine specialist to relieve symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visiting or Having Company:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Politely ask friends and relatives to avoid using scented or toxic products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide them with a list of cleaning and personal care products you can tolerate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure they are smoke and fragrance-free before visiting or being visited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open windows for ventilation, unless the outside air is polluted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check for mould-free environments when visiting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the indoor air quality is poor, go outside if possible.
