ASEQ-EHAQ, collaborated with UQAM, the Service aux collectivités de l’UQAM and TELUQ to develop a project on environmental sensitivities funded by the Ministry of Education, Québec (Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport). Twenty eight people were trained from eleven regions of Quebec, and workshops were held on the biological and legal aspects of ES, covering ten regions of Quebec.
The three main themes of the workshops are
- Understanding the illness and its context
- Rights related to the workplace and housing
- Methods, tools and resources to better manage this condition.
The workshop is grounded in medical, biological and legal facts.
One of the frequent side effects of ES on the individual and his or her entourage is isolation and a diminution of activities. It is therefore important to take this information to the individuals in their regions by offering the possibility of participating in a workshop in their own region.
The workshop’s main goal is to help people suffering from ES become more conscious of their needs, better manage their medical condition, and prepare to retake their place in society. These workshops are therefore a place for recognition and sharing among participants. A realistic and constructive approach is used in order to increase the person’s ability to act by giving them simple and effective tools to assimilate complex content.
Since the successful completion of this project, ASEQ-EHAQ is looking forward to holding workshops across Québec through the people who have been trained as trainers.

To the many people who attended the workshops, from your comments, calls and emails we know that the workshop has been a turning point in your life. We are very touched by your stories of how this has broken some of the isolation and exclusion that you face because you suffer from this illness, how you have made new friends who also have this illness, how you are more empowered now that you have information for yourself, your family and your support system. And best of all that you want to take the message forward. We encourage you to do this and we will support your endeavours across Québec.
